U.S. v China

The number of tooling engineers (folks who can create machines to make things – like screws) in this country could fill one large classroom. The number of tooling engineers in China could fill several football fields.

Do you why Apple makes Mac computers in China? Because when they brought the plant back to Texas they couldn’t find an American screw manufacturer!!!!!!! They took the plant back to China.

BUILD THE WALL??

We need “border security”, right?  Isn’t that what Trump has been saying for years?  He states that our border is being accessed by drug addicts, rapists, kidnappers and heroin mules.

I wonder, then, what is the justification for shutting down the government when two of the most important front line border protection agencies, the TSA and the US Coast Guard, are essentially shut down.

How about all the auxiliary departments, contractors, and sub-contractors who service various law enforcement such as the FBI, DEA, and CIA?

Trump’s move isn’t “making America great again”.  It’s leaving us unprotected.

Another D List Player

In follow up to my “Incompetent Amateurs and A Country at Risk” post from a few days ago, I should point out we now lost one of our most experienced and respected diplomats.  Brett McGurk, the special envoy for the coalition to defeat ISIS, resigned in protest of Trump’s decision to pull out of Syria.

And now, we learn that THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE, that’s right – DEFENSE, is being replaced with a Boeing executive WITH NO MILITARY EXPERIENCE.  Patrick Shanahan, another Trump crony was named as the acting defense secretary.  It should be noted this is his second trip to the wishing well.  His last appearance in front of the Senate Confirmation Committee about 17 months ago made it clear how unprepared, inexperienced, and unqualified he is to LEAD THE PENTAGON.

In fact, he submitted written responses to questions just prior to the hearing.  In those responses he said he believed we should stop sending weapons to the Ukraine.  (You know, the country fighting against Trump’s keepers in Russia.)  However, during his face to face hearing HE LIED by changing his tune and said he would support sending weapons to the Ukraine.

And, that’s when then Senator John McCain jumped all over him.  He pointed out his inconsistent testimony.  He called out Shanahan for not knowing what was happening in the very same Armed Services Committee he (Shanahan) was supposed to be involved in.

Shanahan has no government experience and no foreign policy experience.  Insiders at the Pentagon state Shanahan doesn’t understand the military culture and has struggled with high turnover on his immediate staff and tensions with the military services.  Sound familiar??  Just like our Moron – In – Chief.

Doing Trump – Al Capone Style

Alphonse Capone, the gangster leader in Chicago.  Murderer, extortionist, and bootlegger, he was never convicted of any of those crimes. Rather, he went to prison for, get this, tax evasion.

The FBI probe into the Russian interference in the 2016 election is not a witch hunt as proclaimed by Trump and all of his disciples.  Considering the number of convictions, guilty pleas, plea bargains, and ongoing investigations, the crimes were real.  Will the trail ever lead to Trump himself?  We’ll see.

There are currently 17 major ongoing investigations.  They can be broken down as follows:

We know Mueller is looking into various obstruction of justice events, campaign and transition involvement with Russians; Middle Eastern contacts with the compaign; the ongoing Paul Manafort mess; Moscow’s Trump Tower; WikiLeaks; and the Russian attack on our election process.

The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York has four big ones: funding of the inauguration, super PAC funding, lobbying by foreign nations, and Trump Organization finances during the campaign.

The US Attorney for the District of Columbia is on the Russian Spy, Maria Butina.

The US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia is working on the Internet Research Agency mess and Turkish influence as outlined by Michael Flynn.

There’s an odd investigation going on involving Michael Flynn and an un-named office.  It seems to be an intelligence thing.

Attorneys General in Maryland and Washington DC are going after Trump Organization records to see if Trump violated the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution.  The one that says a president cannot accept payments from foreign powers while in office.

Not even mentioning the various payoffs and lawsuits settled by Trump which may or may not have involved campaign funds, and, or The Trump Foundation funds, we have the Al Capone issues. Ongoing investigations by the New York State Attorney General suggesting Trump profited, benefited or whatever other word you want to use from more than $400m in various tax schemes.  Now the New York State Tax Department is involved. The Trump Foundation, shut down last week after its assets were seized and distributed by NY State to legitimate charities, is under scrutiny for its accounting.  Now, the new Congress has set its eyes on securing Trumps tax return records.  It’s only a matter of time.  Trump got away with all that stuff discussed above.  He’ll go down for tax issues.

Incompetent Amateurs and A Country at Risk

As President, Donald Trump has the right to choose his cabinet and make appointments to his administration.  What we’ve seen, in terms of those appointments, are a list of cronies, like-minded, selfish bunch of inexperienced, unqualified, inept, incompetent amateurs, much like his children and in-laws, seeking ways to enrich themselves while pretending to run the country.

Donald Trump only wants “Yes” men and women around him.  That’s why his administration has lost so many members.  Consider the loss of the following: Robin Townley, Keith Kellogg, Michael Flynn (rightfully so), Katie Walsh, Michael Dubke, Sean Spicer, Josh Pitcock, Reince Priebus, George Sifakis, Ezra Watnick, Steve Bannon (thank God), George Gigicos, Keith Schiller, Greg Katsas, Omarosa Manigault, Paul Winfree, Rick Dearborn, Rob Porter, Reed Cordish, Gary Cohn, Thomas Bossert, Everett Eissenstat, Marc Short, Jen Pavlik, Donald McGahn, Bill Stepien, and Mick Mulvaney.

Now let’s look at the actual Cabinet.  James Comey was fired from the FBI; John Kelly left the Chief of the Staff; Reince Priebus left the Chief of Staff; Tom Price was removed as the Secretary of Health and Human Services; Rex Tillerson was forced out of Secretary of State; David Shulkin was force out of Veterans Affairs; Scott Pruitt was forced out of the Environmental Protection Agency; Nikki Haley resigned as Ambassador to the UN; Jeff Sessions was fired as Attorney General; and Ryan Zinke was forced out as Secretary of Interior.

So, now Trump can put in more of his cronies and “yes” people.  And, what will we get?  A bunch of inexperienced, unqualified, inept, incompetent amateurs, much like his children and in-laws, seeking ways to enrich themselves while pretending to run the country.  But, now we’re getting down into the C-List and D-List players.  The Country’s life is at risk.

Trump – Worthless??

Oh Trump Fans, I can’t Hear You…. Any comment on the charity fraud?

In 1987 or so, Trump started a charity foundation called, “The Donald J. Trump Foundation”.  He said he would donate the proceeds of the book he CO-WROTE, “The Art of the Deal” into the foundation.  He was then supposed to make donations to various charity organizations.  However, he stopped making personal donations in 2008 and started soliciting donations from outside entities.

Corporate records show there are only four board of directors, Donald, his three adult children, and a guy named Allen Weisselberg who is listed at the treasurer and CFO. Allen claims he wasn’t aware he was listed as a member of the board.  According to corporate records, there has not been any board meetings since 1999.

Oddly, there is no physical address for the foundation.  Nor are there any actual employees.

Finance records suggest donors contributed about $9.3m and Trump donated $5.5m with the last donation being in 2008 for $35,000.

Trump seems to have distributed some of the funds at various presidential rallies.  Since no charity can be involved in political activity, this is a violation.  Another very specific violation occurred during an Iowa fundraiser as money raised there was funneled to Trump’s campaign.

Various sources have shown the settlement of lawsuits against Trump were financially made through the Trump Foundation.  Essentially, using charity funds to pay off his own debts.

Of the many examples of questionable activities is a 1989 payment of $7 to the Boy Scouts of America. That is the smallest “donation” ever made by the foundation.  It is also, by coincidence, the enrollment fee the year his son, Donald Trump, Jr., who was 11 joined.

Perhaps the most glaring example of the “value” this foundation has is a 2007 purchase of a $20,000 painting of Trump.  On the 2017 IRS Charity Form, he listed its value down to $700.  This year, the value was $0, essentially worthless.

Indeed.
